Are you looking for an opportunity to engage with clients in a deeply strategic way Do you want the work you’re doing to really impact the team’s bottom line Do you want to have an impact on the engineering teams that are building a key product at Microsoft We are seeking a creative, positive and experienced HR Manager to join the flagship Windows Engineering group within the Windows and Windows Live Division. The successful business-oriented candidate will have experience supporting professional clients and understand how to integrate HR objectives with business strategy. A demonstrated track record of developing and implementing HR projects and programs to drive change, organizational alignment and leadership development is essential. Primary responsibilities include developing, managing, implementing and integrating HR programs and guidelines for the business in support of organizational objectives. This includes employee relations, compensation, recruiting, performance management and appraisal, training, diversity, organizational development, and career counseling. Additionally, this includes developing strong business relationships with the executive management and client group; developing and driving the people agenda for the business; analyzing and presenting information to the management team that enables good business decisions; participating as a member of the Windows HR team; and driving and supporting cross-group client or HR initiatives.


Key Accountabilities:

• Business Partner - Understand the business. Develop strong business relationships with a technical client group and partner with the leadership team to assist in driving business results. Drive systemic organizational and people strategies that are aligned to the business agenda. Work closely with HR partners to ensure seamless strategic management of the organization.

• Change Agent - Partner with and coach business leadership team to facilitate organization and culture change. Act as a catalyst for building organizational effectiveness within the business. Educate business on HR trends that affect the business. Acquire business sponsorship for HR initiatives.

• Program Manager - Lead virtual teams of HR and business colleagues to design and implement HR strategies in alignment with both business and HR functional objectives. Examples may include leadership development programs and succession planning.

• Process Manager (Basics) - Lead implementation of core HR programs into the business insuring an effective, sustainable people agenda over the long term. Provide business-specific feedback to the HR team for design and delivery improvement of field-ready solutions, including improved self service models. Partner with employee investigations group for escalation of designated issues.

• Employee Relations - Build management capability to facilitate an open, inclusive, Microsoft Values-based environment that enables effective employee relations. Ensure role is perceived as a safe, objective employee resource and escalation path for unresolved employee relations issues.


Qualifications should include a minimum of 7+ years directly applicable HR experience or an equivalent combination of advanced training and experience in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated competence in coaching, employee relations and knowledge of employment laws (i.e. EEOC guidelines, FLSA and ADA) required, supervisory experience preferred. Candidates must be able to multi-task, embrace ambiguity, recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to solving problems in this fast moving, dynamic environment. Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills, excellent project and time management, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills, and ability to work in a team environment. A bachelor’s degree is required and Individuals with an MBA or advanced degree in Human Resources preferred.
