Description
Xbox LIVE has become the definitive online console experience through continued innovation. A growing aspect of this innovation is driven by broader entertainment and community focused experiences. Global partnerships and joint experiences are being developed with entertainment giants like Netflix, BSkyB, Canal+, and LastFM, along with social powerhouses such as Facebook and Twitter.
In support of this effort, Xbox LIVE Studios is continuing to grow and consolidate its focus. With Xbox LIVE at the center, this team will bring the best entertainment content the world has to offer together with integrated social and interactive experiences to create the ultimate living room experience for more than 20 million users around the world.
Xbox LIVE Studios is hiring a Studio Manager to oversee and coordinate the product development of some of these experiences in its Redmond Studio. This position will report directly to the General Manager of the Studios group and be responsible for defining, developing, and launching new experiences.
This position will oversee all entertainment and social application development activities on top of Xbox LIVE and work with the General Manager in running the studio. Responsibilities include:
Work with the Xbox LIVE organization in managing an application strategy, roadmap and financial plan including regular presentations to the Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business executive team
Analyze industry and competitive trends and map back to customer segmentation and analysis and develop a 1, 3, and 7 year portfolio and technical strategy that balances product return on investment
Develop innovative and striking interactive experiences that take our partners content and experiences, and features them in unique and compelling ways leveraging Xbox LIVE and the Xbox Console(including Natal)
Manage internal and external resources responsible for execution on the approved strategy and roadmap. This includes Design, Development, Program Management and Testing resources
Work closely with our Xbox LIVE Studio in London
Build close relationships with key internal platform partners including core LIVE platform development and business teams as well as other Microsoft Game Studios
Monitor and analyze performance of Xbox LIVE Studio products and experiences and continually adjust plans based on changing market condition
Closely manage key partner relationships
Establish professional relationships with a mix of entertainment and video game studios to stay connected in the industry and uncover potential joint business opportunities
Work with global, regional, and local marketing and sales on the introduction of new products, and ensure ongoing marketing and sales strategies are coordinated to achieve each offering’s goals
Provide revenue and expense forecast management for the entire portfolio
Required Skills/Personal Requirements:
Ten or more years experience in the interactive entertainment and/or video game industry in some combination of product development, product management, and product strategy roles
A relevant Bachelors or Masters degree
Minimum 3 years management experience in a gaming and/or interactive entertainment environment
Experience in leading teams
A proven track record in the online gaming/entertainment market (mobile, web, and/or console)
Extensive knowledge of game and application development, design, user experience, art, and technology
Ability to run complex projects in a dynamic work environment
Flexible, goal-oriented, and familiar with stakeholder management
Innovative, creative, with a problem-solving mentality
Solid oral and written communication skills
